Mallorca - home to some beautiful nudist and naturist beaches

When it comes to getting an all-over tan on a beautiful naturist beach, I must admit that Mallorca is one of my favourite destinations, not just for the nudist beaches, but because there is so much to see and do on the island.

So let's get straight down to business. There are lots of naturist beaches on the island of Mallorca and picking the top 10 beaches is no easy job....

....so unless you know better, here are the top 10 nudist beaches on the beautiful island of Mallorca.

1. Playa Es Trenc naturist beach (South)

Description

You’re in for a treat! Es Trenc is a paradise for nudist beach lovers and is widely considered to be the most beautiful beach on the island. Located in the South of Mallorca, Es Trenc is a 3km stretch of beautiful, fine white sand with a gentle slope into clear shallow water and there’s loads of space for naturists as well as textiles. The beach is very popular throughout the summer, especially at weekends, but don’t be put off by that – this beach is huge and you’ll easily find plenty of space for yourself to spend a relaxing day getting an all-over tan.

Location and access

Es Trenc is situated in the South of Mallorca, between Ses Covetes and Colonia Sant Jordi – see map below. The Es Trenc nudist beach is closer to Ses Covetes, so unless you like a long walk, I recommend that you park there and walk up the beach for about 10 minutes or alternatively leave your car at the parking spot in the middle of the beach, and when you get to the beach, turn right and walk for 10 minutes.

Parking

You can park in any of the following three places (zoom into the map below):
1. Colonia Sant Jordi (there is a parking charge)
2. Ses Covetes (there is a parking charge)
3. In the middle of the beach (there is a parking charge)

Child-friendly?

Es Trenc nudist beach gets 5* for child friendliness; the fine white sand slopes gently into clear, shallow water which is just perfect for the kids to splash around in, and there is loads of room along the beach for them to run around.

Restaurants, water sports and facilities

There are a few restaurants and bars along the beach with showers and toilet facilities, plus sun beds and umbrellas for hire. There are no watersports here, so bring your own entertainment! And finally, the beach is kept immaculately clean with plenty of bins to get rid of your rubbish.

Nearby

At one end of the beach is Colonia Sant Jordi, with hotels, villas and restaurants and at the other end is Ses Covetes, a small village with much less tourist development.

2. Caló d'en Rafelino naturist beach (East)

Description

This little cove just south of Cala Morlanda is just exquisite. It features a beautifully white beach only about 30m wide, protected from wind and waves by low cliffs on either side. And because of its secluded location, it is almost always quiet and is a favourite beach with nudists.

Location and access

Caló d'en Rafelino is very easy to get to – it’s just a 250m stroll along a path which runs across the headland from the south end of the little town of Cala Morlanda which is situated between S'Illot and Porto Cristo on the east coast of Mallorca. See my map below for details.

Parking

You can park your car on the street in Cala Morlanda for no charge. I parked on Avinguda del Llop, but there is plenty of space in other streets - see my map below for details.

Child-friendly?

The beach is safe enough but there is little place for children to play.

Restaurants, water sports and facilities

There are no facilities at all at this beach, but it’s only a short walk to Cala Morlanda where you will find bars, shops and toilets.

3. Cala Torta naturist beach (North East)

Description

Yet another stunning white naturist beach with turquoise water located in a sandy cove that is just perfect for nudist sunbathers. Surrounded by low hills which shelter you from the wind, the beach is 220m wide and 130m deep, so there is plenty of space even on a busy day. It can get rather busy with both locals and tourists and the beach is popular with both nudists and textiles. One note about the wind – you might want to avoid the beach if the forecast is for wind from the north or north east!

Location and access

Take the Ma-15 road from the North of Arta which will be signposted to Capdepera and very shortly you’ll need to turn left after the petrol station. You’ll then pass the fire station and immediately see a football ground on your right. Turn right at the football ground the road winds up in to the mountains where you’ll have a great view and it then drops down towards the sea. Approximately 9 Km after leaving Artà, you´ll come to a fork and you need to take the right hand road, which runs for another 1km until you arrive at Cala torta nudist-friendly beach. The last time I visited, the final 2km of the road was a bit bumpy, but don’t worry, the drive is worth it. See my map below for more details.

Parking

You can park free by the side of the road when you get near the beach - see my map below for more details.

Child-friendly?

The sea is not as calm as beaches in the South of the island, but there is plenty of space for children to play and the beach slopes gently into the water, which gets deep quite quickly.

Restaurants, water sports and facilities

There is a small café and beach bar on the beach, providing refreshments and toilets. There are no water sports facilities provided, but the conditions for snorkelling are said to be excellent along the cliffs in the sea.

Nearby

It is also possible to reach Cala Mitjana (another nudist-friendly beach) on foot from Cala Torta by following the track on the left; this takes about 15 minutes.

4. Cala El Mago nudist beach (South West)

Description

Small but perfectly formed, this beach ranks as one of my all-time favourites. The beach is located in a beautiful cove, surrounded by pine tree-lined hills, giving it protection from the waves and wind. Only 25m wide and 25m deep, Cala El Mago features clean, white sand and fabulous warm, shallow turquoise water. The first official nudist beach in Mallorca, Cala El Mago was the setting for the 1967 film, The Magician, starring Michael Caine, Candice Bergen and Anthony Quinn. True, it can get a little busy in the peak season, but it is a must-visit for every naturist. And if it is a little busy when you get there, head up onto the rocks on the left and there is plenty of space for nude sunbathing and swimming.

Location and access

Cala El Mago is located in Calvia in the South East of Mallorca, some 6 km south of Magaluf. It’s close to Portals Vells, so follow the signs towards Portals Vells, past the golf course and then you’ll see a hand-written sign for Playa del Mago hanging on the tree on the left of the road. See my map below for more details.

Parking

As you drive down the hill towards the cove, you’ll see cars parked on the side of the road. You can park for free and the later you arrive, the further you’ll have to walk! See my map below for more details.

Child-friendly?

This is a very safe beach with the beach gently sloping into the clear, shallow water. However, there is little space for children to play, so you won’t find space to run around here.

There are no water sports facilities at the beach, however there is a superb restaurant 'Bar Playa del Mago' which overlooks the beach and is a great place for a relaxing lunch.

Description

Playa Es Pregons is a beautiful little bay with a perfect crescent of fine white sand which slopes gently into a turquoise sea. Mainly populated by nudists, it is situated just next to Es Trenc, so you can spend part of a day on the Es Trenc nudist beach and the rest of your day on the Es Pregons nudist-friendly beach. We visited the beach in June and it was not busy at all – just a few naturists enjoying a little paradise.

Location and access

Playa Es Pregons is situated in the South of Mallorca, between Ses Covetes and Colonia Sant Jordi – see map above. The beach is closer to Colonia Sant Jordi, so I recommend that you park there and walk up the beach for about 10 minutes or alternatively at the car park in the middle of the beach (see map below for more details), and when you get onto the beach, turn left and walk for 10 minutes towards Colonia Sant Jordi.

6. Coll Baix nudist beach (North)

Description

If you like wild and remote nudist beaches, then Coll Baix is for you. Surrounded by a large wall of cliffs, secluded and completely unspoilt, the beach is 220m wide and about 50m deep and consists of sand and shingle. It is absolutely beautiful here and its rather remote location means that it rarely gets busy and you’ll have plenty of space for yourself.

Location and access

There are boat trips from the port of Alcudia, but if you want to drive, you’ll need head out of Alcudia and follow the road that skirts around to the right of the mountains (see map above). The drive is only about 9km, and once you reach the end of the road, the final 500m is on foot, so bring only the things you can carry! See my map below for more details.

Parking

You can park for free on the side of the road - see my map below for more details.

Child-friendly?

The beach itself is child-friendly enough with a gentle slope into the water, however the fairly long walk, plus the fact that it is not pure white sand may put you off, especially if you need to carry small children. Note that when it gets windy, the sea can be a bit rougher than on the southern beaches.

Restaurants, water sports and facilities

There are no facilities at all at this beach, so bring everything you need with you!

7. Cala Bella Dona nudist beach (South West)

Cala Bella Dona naturist beach in Mallorca
Cala Bella Dona naturist beach sits in a quiet cove

Description

Declared an official nudist beach in 1986, Cala Bella Dona is a stunning small, golden sandy cove just 30m long and only 6m deep. The beech is protected by rocks on either side and the hills are covered with vegetation. This beach is similar in beauty to Cala El Mago (see earlier), but is definitely a bit quieter as there is no restaurant or other facilities. A real gem.

Location and access

Cala Bella Dona nudist beach is located near Andratx in the South west of the island about eight kilometres from Magaluf, between Ca l'Aixada and Cala Falcó. To get here, take the main road from Palma de Mallorca towards Andratx, and once you have passed Magaluf, turn left towards Portals Vells. Turn left at a sign towards the residential area of Sol de Mallorca, where you can park on Av. Balear. At the end of this street, there are some steps that will lead you down to the beach - see my map below for more details.

Description

If you like peace and quiet, this tiny unspoilt beach is a real find. It’s only 30m wide, but luckily it’s off the beaten path and is a real haven for naturists looking for an all-over tan. The beach is in a little cove, protected by rocks on both sides and the surrounding hills are covered with vegetation. It’s wild and beautiful. The beach is a mix of sand and rocks, but you can always find a clear space to lie down.

Location and access

See my map above for the best directions, but from S’Horta, head towards Cala Marcal and where the road bears left just before the residential area, you’ll need to park on the left under the pine trees on the outskirts of the residential area. You then need to walk along a track to get to the beach – it’s a bit of a trek, but worth it for the solitude! See my map below for more details.

Parking

Park for free on the outskirts of Cala Marcal - see my map below for more details.

Child-friendly?

Not really. It’s a bit of a trek and the beach is rather small and rocky in parts.

Description

This is a fabulous nudist-friendly beach situated in the North East of the island. Over 500m wide and 150m deep, the beach is covered in golden sand and backed by a series of ever-shifting sand-dunes which are continually sculpted by the northern winds. There is a small tourist development to the left of the beach and the general rule is “textiles on the left, nudists on the right”. Not the quietest of beaches, but big enough to cater for all tastes and well worth a day out because of its spectacular setting and beautiful sand-dunes.

Cala Varques nudist-friendly beach in Mallorca
The beautiful, perfect Cala Varques nudist-friendly beach

Description

Cala Varques (sometimes called Cala Barques) is a stunning, beautiful sandy white beach situated in a cove which shelters the beach from the wind and waves. It is completely unspoilt and surrounded by low cliffs and forest. The beach is about 150m wide and 75m deep, providing plenty of space for both naturists and textiles. The beach slopes gently into a turquoise sea…this is just perfect. The beach is quite popular, but there is plenty of space even in the high season. You may want to explore another beautiful beach situated just south of Cala Barques – as you face the sea, turn right and it’s a 500m walk along the cliffs to a smaller, but equally beautiful cove that is mainly used by naturists.

Location and access

See my map above for details of access. The beach is very easy to find from the Ma-4014 which runs from Porto Colom up to Porto Cristo. If you are heading from the South (Porto Colom), look out for the junction with the PMV-4015 on your left. Once you pass this junction, you take the next right hand turning down a track. Once you reach the end of the track, park your car and walk straight on down a track for 150m through the woods until you reach the beach. See my map below for more details.
